As court sends Anna Nicole Smith's remains into limbo, battle continues over custody of her baby

...Smith's ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, also attended the hearing in the Supreme Court of the Bahamas to ask that a judge incorporate his paternity claims into the guardianship hearing.

The California-based freelance photographer, who claims Smith told him he was the father, testified in the burial hearing last week that Smith admitted to fleeing to the Bahamas to escape his paternity claims.

Bahamian attorney Godfrey "Pro" Pinder, who represents Smith's friend in his ownership claims to Smith's home, told reporters that the judge granted Birkhead's request, effectively allowing him to join the guardianship dispute if he is determined to be the father.

After the hearing, Birkhead smiled while his lawyer, Debra Opri, gave a thumbs-up sign to a cheering crowd on the way to their car.
