Just then... he showed his true character
And he won the debate in that instant.
Biden showed who he is.
Sarah Palin did not...
Her words were not actually flubbed, most will have to say she did adequately. But she did misspeak on use of an Iraq-style surge approach being a consideration in Afghanistan, when Biden was right on that point.
There was one early on comment she made when she did not answer specifically and was given another opportunity similarly to Biden to expand and she said she wasn't going to answer the way a moderator or anyone wanted her to answer...
But even with that - a show of tenacity perhaps - stubborness - we still do not have a clue about her real character.
She did not show us first hand watching.
Joe Biden did.
And for that, he wins the debate.
He by the way handled himself way more than adequately.
Another thing that struck throughout the debate Biden did not handle with care, he equally gave when he got, but an observation he gave with respect, while Palin, just an observation, appeared condescending, jabbing as if she were speaking to a 2nd grader far less her superior.
Here's an example:
PALIN: Say it ain't so, Joe, there you go again pointing backwards again. You preferenced your whole comment with the Bush administration. Now doggone it, let's look ahead and tell Americans what we have to plan to do for them in the future...

Look who agrees with us ane we with her. we will revise our post in response, and accept Palin did show a side of her character by not sympathizing with Biden over the loss of his wife and son years back. But had she done that, she might have also shown a potential 'motherly' side when apparently throughout the debate she wanted a different appearance....

How Sarah Palin blew it
...There were two key moments for me when Sarah Palin blew it badly. One was substantive, one was symbolic...
...The symbolic moment Palin flubbed was subjective, of course. But I instant-messaged a friend that she lost the debate when Biden choked up over losing his wife and child in a car accident in which his sons were critically injured -- and she went straight back into "John McCain is a maverick." I truly expected her to express human sympathy with Biden, and her failure to do so showed me something deeply wrong with her. But maybe that's just me...
