The former Republican vice-presidential candidate contender put the "target map" on her Facebook page last March ahead of the mid-term elections.
The image highlighted the districts of 20 Democratic politicians she had singled out for defeat after they supported President Barack Obama's healthcare reforms.
One of the targets — whose district was marked with the crosshair graphic — is now fighting for life in hospital after she was shot by a crazed gunman on Saturday.
Earlier this month her office in Tucson, Arizona, was hit by shotgun pellets.
Gabrielle Giffords had criticised Mrs Palin for using the gun graphic in a TV interview saying: "When people do that, they've got to realise there are consequences to that action."
Mrs Palin has previously boasted about her passion for hunting and has been pictured and filmed shooting wild animals.
The crosshairs were quickly taken off the website yesterday and Mrs Palin offered her "sincere condolences" to Mrss Giffords and the other shooting victims...
