Statistics Wrong on Americans Without Health Care Coverage

We've wondered whether the incorrect stats included information on illegal aliens who are residing in the United States and may complete those Census surveys along with legal United States citizens...

Proposal to Skip Census Count of Illegal Immigrants June 15, 2005 · The U.S. Census counts "residents" of the nation. That number includes many people who aren't citizens, including those with a work visa or a "green card," and also those who entered the United States illegally. Rep. Candice Miller (R-MI) discusses her proposed constitutional amendment to change the Census count to include only U.S. citizens.

Americans 'lied to' about '47 million uninsured'
Posted: July 19, 2007
World Net Daily

President Bush, Hillary Clinton, Michael Moore and much of the mainstream media are incorrect when they claim the number of Americans without health insurance to be 40 to 50 million, with the actual number possibly under 10 million.

So says the Business and Media Institute, a Virginia-based division of the Media Research Center, a nonprofit watchdog organization designed to bring balance and responsibility to the media.

"The actual total is open to debate," says BMI analyst Julia Seymour. "But there are millions of people who should be excluded from that [high] tally, including: those who aren't American citizens, people who can afford their own insurance, and people who already qualify for government coverage but haven't signed up."

She notes government statistics also show 45 percent of people without insurance are not completely in dire straits, as they'll have coverage again within four months after switching jobs.

"Accounting for all those factors, one prominent study places the total for the long-term uninsured as low as 8.2 million – a very different reality than the media and national health care advocates claim," said Seymour.

The BMI report notes the number of the uninsured who are not U.S. citizens is nearly 10 million on its own, invalidating all the claims of 40-plus million "Americans" without health insurance...

...ABC News medical expert Dr. Tim Johnson cited the incorrect data as he praised a "bold" and "politically brilliant" universal health-coverage plan on the April 26 edition of "Good Morning America."

"It's bold because it does propose to cover all Americans, including the 47 million now who are uninsured, within five years," said Johnson.

Seymour also labeled Michael Moore's new film "SiCKO" as a "propagandumentary" and pointed out the director's website claims a very high number of uninsured: "There are nearly 50 million Americans without health insurance."

She says subtracting non-citizens and those who can afford their own insurance but choose not to purchase it, about 20 million people are left – less than 7 percent of the population.

"Many Americans are uninsured by choice," wrote Dr. David Gratzer in his book, "The Cure: How Capitalism Can Save American Health Care." Gratzer cited a study of the "nonpoor uninsured" from the California Healthcare Foundation.

"Why the lack of insurance [among people who own homes and computers]? One clue is that 60 percent reported being in excellent health or very good health," explained Gratzer.

"Proponents of universal health care often use the 46-million figure – without context or qualification. It creates the false impression that a huge percentage of the population has fallen through the cracks," Gratzer told BMI. "Again, that's not to suggest that there is no problem, but it's very different than the universal-care crowd describes."

The Kaiser Family Foundation, a nonprofit group often quoted in news reports, puts the number of uninsured Americans who do not qualify for current government programs and make less than $50,000 a year between 8.2 million and 13.9 million, far less than the mantra of 40 to 50 million.

Truth about connection between psychiatric drugs suicide violence murder

What is astonishing is the lack of interest in the connection between food, chemicals, toxins, etc. and suicidal thoughts, violent thoughts, and murderous thoughts... let alone action on those thoughts...

What all affects one's thoughts and tendencies? Is it possibly many prisoners who have committed crimes of violence have a glitch in brain chemistry?

The shocking link between psychiatric drugs,
suicide, violence and mass murder

From Columbine to Virginia Tech, every time another headline-making mass murderer is discovered to have taken antidepressants or other psychiatric drugs, rumors and speculation abound regarding the possible connection between the medications and the violence.

Now, reports the July 2007 edition of WND's elite monthly Whistleblower magazine, the time for speculation and guessing is over. The evidence is overwhelming and irrefutable, says Whistleblower's groundbreaking investigative report: Mood-altering psychiatric drugs – taken every day by tens of millions of Americans, including millions of children – actually can push some users over the edge into mania, suicide and horrific violence.

The issue is titled "MANIA: The shocking truth about psychiatric drugs and their link to suicide, violence and mass murder." ...

All very interesting, you may be thinking, but what do the drug companies say in their defense?

One of the most widely prescribed antidepressants today is Paxil, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.

Paxil's known "adverse drug reactions" – according to the drug's own 2001 FDA-approved label – include "mania," "insomnia," "anxiety," "agitation," "confusion," "amnesia," "depression," "paranoid reaction," "psychosis," "hostility," "delirium," "hallucinations," "abnormal thinking," "depersonalization" and "lack of emotion," among others.

With a rap sheet like that, no wonder pharmaceutical companies are nervous about liability lawsuits over the "rare adverse effects" of their medications. In 1998, for example, GlaxoSmithKline was ordered to pay $6.4 million to Donald Schnell's surviving family members after the 60-year-old man, just two days after taking Paxil, murdered his wife, daughter and granddaughter in a fit of rage.

But reporting the truth about the relationship between psychiatric medications and mass murderers is just the beginning. "MANIA" also reveals clear and compelling evidence that psychiatric drugs hurt children physically – causing shrinkage of their brains, damage to their hearts and other significant effects.

Perhaps even more disconcerting, "MANIA" exposes the federal government's bizarre preoccupation with screening all American school kids to see if they're mentally ill – a process that often leads directly to a prescription for mood-altering drugs for the child who didn't answer the questions properly.

"The problem," said David Kupelian, managing editor of WND and Whistleblower, "is that many Americans don't exactly trust the federal government to determine what constitutes 'mental health.'" Incredibly, as this issue reveals, there is even a government effort to proclaim an infant-and-toddler mental health crisis!

With the numbers of people taking prescription psychiatric medications in the tens of millions and growing every day, this issue will touch virtually every reader in a profound way...

12 week fetus video shows development of human infant

Baby in the early womb evidence of - it's a human baby, not an aardvark or an it, but a growing, developing, baby...

June 29, 2004: Vivid 3D images, produced by new ultrasound technology, go far beyond the grainy pictures shown to proud parents-to-be in the doctor's office.

Scans pioneered by a London professor reveal complex behavior in unborn children from an early stage of development – some of which was thought only to occur much later.

The advanced imagery has captured a 12-week-old fetus "walking" in the womb and others apparently yawning and rubbing their eyes.

A whole range of typical baby behavior and moods can be observed beginning at 26 weeks, including scratching, smiling, crying, hiccuping and sucking.

Smiling was believed to not start until six weeks after birth.

PA shut down in effect for casinos, state parks...

Non-essential state workers, whoda thunk? Surely not Pennsylvania taxpayers? How much are these people paid anyways? What benefits do they get? How much do they cost Pennsylvania taxpayers? Maybe, just maybe, they are really non-essential to a free-people.

Penn. Gov. Orders Partial State Shutdown

Jul 8 11:31 PM US/Eastern

Associated Press Writers
Gov. Ed Rendell late Sunday ordered a range of state government services shut down and placed about a third of the state work force on indefinite unpaid furlough after frantic last-minute negotiations failed to break a budget stalemate.
Rendell, appearing outside his Capitol office, said the shutdown would go forward but he and legislators will continue to work toward a deal.

"Let me say to our hardworking and dedicated state employees, we worked as hard as we could today," Rendell said. But, he said, negotiations and serious consideration of his priorities, which he maintains must be passed along with a state spending plan, began too late.

"We didn't start early enough," Rendell said. "I think everybody was at fault."

Pennsylvanians will be unable to take driver's license tests, state- run museums will be shuttered and casinos will have to stop taking bets Monday. Highway maintenance and a range of permitting and licensing functions will be stopped or severely curtailed, and the lights illuminating the Capitol's dome were to be turned off.

This is a breaking news update. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

Panel wants casino answers
By Brad Bumsted
STATE CAPITOL REPORTER
Friday, July 6, 2007

*HARRISBURG -- As tension increased over a budget impasse that enters its sixth day today, a Senate panel Thursday issued subpoenas to compel two senior officials of Gov. Ed Rendell's administration to testify about whether the state has money available to keep casinos open.

Pennsylvania's five casinos could shut down Monday if there is no budget, because Revenue Department employees who oversee collection of slots money are considered "nonessential." As many as 25,000 state employees overall could be furloughed.

The state would lose an average $1.7 million a day in revenues if the casinos close.

Budget-related negotiations continued. GOP senators said a chief stumbling block is Rendell's insistence that lawmakers approve his plan to borrow $850 million for alternative energy projects. The plan would assess residential, commercial and industrial power users.

Senate President Pro Tempore Joseph Scarnati, R-Jefferson County, said that could mean thousands of dollars more each year for hospitals and nursing homes in his district.

The Committee on Community, Economic and Recreational Development, chaired by Republican Sen. Jane Earll, of Erie, voted to subpoena Revenue Secretary Tom Wolf and Secretary of Administration Joe Martz after they refused to voluntarily respond to Earll's request to answer the committee's questions.

Earll wants to know whether the Revenue Department has money to pay the salaries of seven employees who monitor collections from the casinos, or whether the Gaming Control Board has money it could transfer for that purpose.

The state ended the fiscal year June 30 with a $650 million surplus.

PA's state Rep. Bill DeWeese Open Records & Mandatory Fluoride Bill

Fluoride bill watch. Yep, we could have some fun with this... we'll see if we can get Pennsylvania state Rep. Bill DeWeese's attention away from his recent conversion to support some sort of open records legislation. (The state exempted themselves from open records decades ago, and DeWeese hadn't budged until the recent Primary election when he almost got kicked out.) (Maybe somebody slipped something in his bottled water that affected his tenacity.) (Wait, what kind of bottled water does he drink?)(When we discover, we'll tell...)...

Sent via email...

Hi folks,

The fluoride pushers don't let us rest for long.

If you read no further... read this:

CALL STATE REPRESENTATIVE DEWEESE ASAP!

House Majority Leader William DeWeese 717-783-3797

http://www.pahouse.com/contact/viaLDPC.asp?district=50

Tell him NOT to let a bill as controversial as House Bill 1649 move
forward without hearings -- balanced ones with experts from both
sides, and with representatives of the drinking water systems that
will be affected by the law.

BACKGROUND:

We stopped the mandatory fluoridation bill last year, and we even had
the two state reps who were pushing the bill retire!

However, the PA Dental Association found some new champions and --
without warning -- we just learned that the bill (House Bill 1649)
got introduced on June 27th. Before we even knew it existed, it
passed the House Health and Human Services committee unanimously --
only two days after introduction, most likely with no hearings (just
like it did in late 2005).

Here's where you can find the info on the bill status:
http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/billinfo/billinfo.cfm?syear=2007&sind=0&body=H&type=B&BN=1649

The PA Dental Association is pushing to get it passed through the
House before the legislature takes their summer break soon (by July
6th?). We'll need to keep this legislation dead until the end of
2008... the PA Dental Association has a bigger head start this
session than they did last session.

Thankfully, we managed to do some great work last year -- with
enormous help from Lorna Rosenstein and Jeff Green, as well as
support from the Connetts and Bill Hirzy -- which all puts us in a
better position to get rolling with things this year.

We're going to organize around alternative legislation, using the of
the legislators we communicated with on this issue last
year. However, for now, we need to keep House Bill 1649 from moving
to the floor of the House in the next week.

The bill now sits in the Rules Commmittee, which is chaired by House
Majority Leader Rep. DeWeese -- the same person who would be in
charge of bringing the legislation to a vote on the House floor.

Local Citizen's Statements Against Fluoridation
(Small sample of statements against fluoridation)

Dentist No Longer Supports Fluoridation

Dear Watchers:

Experts do not agree on the benefits or risks of fluoride. Many studies find fluoride reduces decay and many find fluoride increases decay. Some claim fluoride is safe, others claim fluoride is a poison. Confused?

As a dentist who promoted water fluoridation for 20 years, wrote many fluoride prescriptions and gave samples and fluoride treatments, I no longer support water fluoridation.

My nutrition education places fluoride as a drug, not a nutrient like vitamins. The absence of fluoride does not cause any disease. The FDA regulates systemic (swallowed) fluoride as a prescription drug (requiring a narcotics license) and topical fluoride with warnings such as, “do not swallow,” “if more than a pea size is swallowed, contact a poison control center.”

A “pea size” of toothpaste contains 0.5mg of fluoride ion, the same amount of fluoride found in two glasses of fluoridated water. If the FDA regulated water, the FDA would probably require a warning “do not swallow this water.”

We are already getting too much fluoride. Even without water fluoridation, too much fluoride is common, as seen in dental fluorosis the white or brown spots on teeth. Look in the mirror, you may have fluorosis. Where is the fluoride coming from and who pays for damaged teeth?

Alarmist global warming claims melt under scientific scrutiny

Alarmist global warming claims melt under scientific scrutiny

June 30, 2007
BY JAMES M. TAYLOR
In his new book, The Assault on Reason, Al Gore pleads, "We must stop tolerating the rejection and distortion of science. We must insist on an end to the cynical use of pseudo-studies known to be false for the purpose of intentionally clouding the public's ability to discern the truth." Gore repeatedly asks that science and reason displace cynical political posturing as the central focus of public discourse.
If Gore really means what he writes, he has an opportunity to make a difference by leading by example on the issue of global warming.

A cooperative and productive discussion of global warming must be open and honest regarding the science. Global warming threats ought to be studied and mitigated, and they should not be deliberately exaggerated as a means of building support for a desired political position.

Many of the assertions Gore makes in his movie, ''An Inconvenient Truth,'' have been refuted by science, both before and after he made them. Gore can show sincerity in his plea for scientific honesty by publicly acknowledging where science has rebutted his claims.

For example, Gore claims that Himalayan glaciers are shrinking and global warming is to blame. Yet the September 2006 issue of the American Meteorological Society's Journal of Climate reported, "Glaciers are growing in the Himalayan Mountains, confounding global warming alarmists who recently claimed the glaciers were shrinking and that global warming was to blame."

Anger, conspiracy and 9/11 truth
David Kupelian
Posted: September 11, 2006
1:00 a.m. Eastern

A recent Scripps Howard survey reports that one in three Americans believe or suspect their democratically elected government is guilty of the worst crime in American history – of participating in the wanton murder of thousands of its own citizens and the destruction of the national economy in order to advance some nefarious, secret agenda.

If that poll is accurate, then I think it's time for us to face some hard truths.

First, we need to understand that, when it comes to 9/11 conspiracy theories, the choice is not between believing that the Bush administration is as pure as the newly fallen snow or believing that the president is a murderous extraterrestrial shape-shifter (as at least one conspiracist alleges). There's a lot in between those extremes.

In fact, if you line up all the possible alternative explanations for 9/11 next to each other, you get a continuum – everything from the most eminently reasonable concerns to the most demented and moronic theories imaginable.

Questions such as whether Flight 93 was actually shot down by the U.S. military over rural Pennsylvania before it could crash into the White House or the Capitol are legitimate. Indeed, the history of clandestine government operations in our own lifetime suggests our government is not only capable of taking such an action (which might well have been the right thing to do under the circumstances), but also capable of keeping it a secret, for whatever reasons.

Likewise, all issues regarding the government's lack of preparedness before 9/11, its myriad intelligence failures, its failure to pay sufficient attention to the growing Islamist threat even after the 1993 World Trade Center car-bombing and other attacks on American interests worldwide, are legitimate.

Cover-ups, official obfuscation and other attempts at hiding past failures, ineptness and gross incompetence are all fair game. Citizens have the perfect right and duty to hold their government accountable.

However, where 9/11 conspiracy theorists cross the line into Bizarro Land is when they conclude, utterly without proof, that the Bush administration is filled with the most craven mass murderers in American history – in other words, that 9/11 was an "inside job."

Stop and think. To believe that 9/11 was an "inside job," that it was accomplished with the blessing of the U.S. government, requires that you believe not only that George W. Bush is a demonically inspired, genocidal monster, but also that dozens and perhaps hundreds of other people in the government are likewise crazed mass-murdering psychopaths.

How can bright and intelligent Americans believe such things?

Perhaps the Scripps Howard poll provides a clue. It cited two major findings:

1. More than a third of Americans believe the U.S. government somehow assisted in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, or else took no steps to stop them from occurring, so the Bush administration could launch a war in the Middle East; and

2. A record number of Americans (54 percent of respondents) claimed they "personally are more angry" at the government than in the past.

In case you're not aware, brainwashers and dictators and master manipulators of all sorts have long known and exploited the knowledge that when people are angry, emotional and upset, they are automatically more vulnerable to outside suggestion (that is, to believing nonsense) than if they were not angry. (That's why Hitler always insisted on appealing to the German population on the basis of powerful emotion, never reason and logic.)

If, in addition, the people are in denial – that is, they've rejected the truth – then they are open to believing virtually anything. Having already denied reality, they literally have a need for lies...

How to Identify Misinformation

How can a journalist or a news consumer tell if a story is true or false? There are no exact rules, but the following clues can help indicate if a story or allegation is true.

Does the story fit the pattern of a conspiracy theory?
Does the story fit the pattern of an “urban legend?”
Does the story contain a shocking revelation about a highly controversial issue?
Is the source trustworthy?
What does further research tell you?
Does the story fit the pattern of a conspiracy theory?

Does the story claim that vast, powerful, evil forces are secretly manipulating events? If so, this fits the profile of a conspiracy theory. Conspiracy theories are rarely true, even though they have great appeal and are often widely believed. In reality, events usually have much less exciting explanations.

The U.S. military or intelligence community is a favorite villain in many conspiracy theories.
